During Grandma & Grandpa's time with our family we made a field trip out to the Reagan Library in Simi Valley. Was a fun time, enjoyed the weather, and took in all the history the facility had to offer. Was a great time, capped off by some Chipotle burritos for the ride home before we hit any traffic.

Grant ready to come home
After 2 nights in the hospital, Maureen and Ed were ready to go home with their new baby. We bundled him up, installed the car seat, and prepared for our journey home. On the car ride home, we stopped for a much needed In-N-Out burger and milk shake. Since Grant was a surprise 3 weeks early - Maureen and Ed had to adjust the situation at home to accomodate the latest addition.

Hoag Hospital Stay
After the birth of Grant Thomas, we stayed in the hospital for 2 more nights. During this time we were visted by Aunt Courtney(Randy was there in spirit since he was sick), and by our close friends Scott & Robin. We enjoyed their time with us, and some good conversation that was much needed during the time away from home.

Arrival of Baby Dugan!
6am in the morning Maureen felt her water break. After a nice, complete, and large breakfast - we headed to Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. We were situated in the Labor Room at about 9:30am and wasn't till about 10am that Maureen started to feel her first contractions. Ed waited patiently along Maureen's side as her contractions were coming on stronger and more painful. At about 2pm Maureen finally asked for the epidural to ease her pain. She was so comfortable that about 4pm Maureen took a nice nap being dilated at about 6 cm. We were in for a long night we thought. Well at about 6pm when Maureen woke up, she was dilated to 9 cm. Her contractions were longer and the epidural strength had a tough time masking her pain. At about 6:15pm Maureen told the nurses "I THINK IT'S TIME!". Ed was in a state of shock as he realized that the Doctor was not in the room yet. Nurses comforted both Ed & Maureen and said the Doctor was on the way. As the Doctor fought late rush-hour traffic to get to the hospital, Maureen started pushing with the Nurse's assistance. Right after Maureen's third push, the Doctor showed up in the Labor room. There was a "ballet" of Nurses suiting the Doctor, putting on gloves, moving the carts in place, and getting ready for the inevitable. At 6:46pm Grant Thomas Dugan entered the world. Ed cut the umbilical cord, and Maureen felt Grant's warm body against hers for the first time. What an exciting and exhilarating moment. Grant Thomas Dugan weighed in at 8lbs 3oz and measured 20.5 inches long. His APGAR was a 9, and both Ed & Maureen feel blessed that they have a perfectly healthy baby boy.
